Exchange and cooperation
The International Justice Mission (IJM) works worldwide for the rights of impoverished people affected by violence. In cooperation with the governments and authorities in the project countries, IJM improves the functionality of legal systems around the world. In Germany alone, more than 750 volunteers are committed to the enforcement of human rights and to sustainably protecting impoverished people from violence. Cooperation and commitment - two values shared by IJM and COYO. One shared reason to create a Digital Home.
As a tool for IJM Germany, COYO should…
Reaching all volunteers and keeping them engaged was one of the biggest challenges. Initiatives were launched, exchanged, and organized through various channels. However, this is always done in the regional groups and is not accessible to everyone. The knowledge and the numerous ideas should become more visible on a cross-regional level in order to establish synergy and work together on the issues - all on one central platform. “It all happens on so many levels, and COYO can bring all that together”
“Our goal for our volunteers: Equip, Empower, Engage. These keywords are part of our program, which is why COYO fits so well for us. Here, these words come alive online.”
Carolin Werner, Head of Mobilization & Volunteering, International Justice Mission Deutschland e.V.
A platform was needed that was close to what the volunteers knew from their private lives and that combined the advantages of different worlds - regardless of the device. A place to meet and interact. A place where togetherness is promoted, ideas are born, and initiatives are started. “COYO just fit. That was the product we needed!”
Today, with its COYO “Stop Slavery,” IJM Germany has created a Digital Home in which all information is centralized. Volunteers can draw on a large pool of knowledge, organize themselves into communities, and share their commitment with others. Whether locally or nationwide, creative ideas are collected, developed, and implemented in the communities. The volunteers have a lot of freedom, and everyone has the chance to get involved and propel ideas forward. “It’s encouraging to see what the volunteers make of it.”
And not only that: with COYO, IJM has managed to digitalize its workshops and training courses. New volunteers pass through various stations in a community, where they receive all the training materials they need and can network directly with others digitally.
